The first question we should answer is what kind of contribution Aesthetics could make to Social Ecology ? After a quick overview of different current research within Aesthetics, we should be able to answer to this question showing how experience of the sensible (sensory experience or aesthesis) is related both to social engagement and perception of the environment. More precisely, the idea is that Environmental aesthetics shouldn’t be departed from the general reflexion on political mediation and sense of responsibility (or concerns) toward environments which are, from our point of view, the two fundamental pillars of Social ecology. Finally, we may be able to propose and develop the notion of ‘sensory citizenship’.
