A series of fieldwork and workshop to understand Japanese environment and landscape is held in Kobe, Ikoma, and Arashiyama. Fieldworks and workshops are planned in important areas to understand the history of Japanese environment and landscape in the Basin of Akashi River(Kobe, Hyogo), Ikoma(Nara), and Aarashiyama(Kyoto).The participants are scholars of philosophy, religion, urban design & Landscape Planning, civil engineering, medicine and nursing, social system study.

2 Workshop on Philosophy and Enterprise of Gyoki, an ancient great priest who dedicated his life to public works.

Place : Chikurinzi Temple in Ikoma, Nara, the temple where he worked and his grave is placed.

3. Workshop on Work of Ryoi Suminokura, a great businessman in early Edo period. Organized by Toshio Kuwako, Professor at Tokyo Institute of Technology
Place : Senkoji Temple in Arashiyama, Kyoto, the temple which was Ryoi Suminokura’s villa after his retirement.
